Lia:
Read between the lines is an expression we use in English. You might think it has something to do with reading lines in a book or a play, but it doesn’t. Read between the lines means to understand what someone really means or what is really happening in a situation even though it’s not directly stated or written. Sometimes, I think it has to do with how something is said. For example, the difference between I love my new job, and I love my new job. Here are two examples of the expression. They say everything is fine, but when I read between the lines, I think there are problems. She said she could afford the new car, but reading between the lines, I don’t think she has enough money. I’ll say goodbye now. I need to go do my favorite chores.
